The grounds of the Castle Hill Light are open to the public. This historic lighthouse was established in 1890, and is made of granite.

Located on 18.5 acres, the lighthouse is owned by the City of Newport. During the World Wars it was used as a Navy Torpedo Station. The lighthouse has not been used since 1970 when the new Pell Newport bridge was built. The property of the lighthouse can be visited year round, with overnights at the lighthouse.

This former lighthouse building is now the Ida Lewis Yacht Club. The 1856 lightkeeper's house is still standing and the lighthouse (circa 1854) itself can be seen well from one of the many Newport harbor cruises.
